Doorway and plaque, Oakworth Hall
The door lintel has some rather nice decoration, like stylised flowers. The carving above it has two faces and a man on horseback. The plaque is to do with the road on the right, Providence Lane, and states in long-winded fashion that the road is private and only to be used by people with business at Providence Mill. It is dated 1843.

Plaque on Oakworth Hall
The Wikipedia article states that Providence Lane originally passed through the farmyard next to Oakworth Hall, and this plaque is inscribed (some of the lettering has been eroded and is difficult to read) "CAUTION (?) AND PUBLIC NOTICE This ....Road between Oakworth Hall and ...Lane Top and is the Private Freehold of JOHN CRAVEN of Berridge House in BINGLEY. No Person can lawfully pass hereon without his leave. Except persons going on their Ordinary Business to and from the Estates of the late HIRAM CRAVEN of DOCKROYD Deceased and of the said JOHN CRAVEN. And persons going on like purposes between Oakworth Hall and LOWER LAITH, the LODGE and the Oakworth Corn Mill Farms the property of JOHN WRIGHT of LOWER LAITH and between OAKWORTH and LOWER PROVIDENCE MILL, the Property of CALEB LEACH of HALIFAX. All other Persons passing hereon after this NOTICE will be treated as Wilful Trespassers. Berridge House Bingley. JULY 1843. JOHN CRAVEN.

Oakworth Hall
Oakworth Hall is a 17th century building and has been used as a farm, bank and private house. Set into the wall are carved heads of Celtic origin and a tablet detailing charges for the former toll road of Providence Lane.
